Products & Services: Wireless Networks Technology LTE
LTE will initially be deployed in densely populated urban areas—overlaid on the 3G and Evolved 3G networks—to boost data capacity and deliver seamless, high-speed mobile data to subscribers with LTE/3G multimode devices. Voice services will continue to be delivered via 3G, and 3G will also provide data service when subscribers move outside LTE coverage areas.
LTE is well suited to leverage new, wider (10 MHz or more) bandwidth as well as TDD spectrum. For existing and smaller bandwidths, 3G and its evolutions offer cost-effective software and hardware upgrades that drive up performance.
In areas where unpaired (TDD) spectrum is available, LTE-TDD is the ideal solution. Like its FDD relative, LTE-TDD is fully interoperable with 3G. Furthermore, it leverages LTE-FDD’s core network and a vast LTE/3G ecosystem.
Qualcomm was the first in the industry to introduce LTE/3G multimode chipsets in 2009. We currently offer a range of chipsets that support everything from data modems, USB dongles to powerful smartphones and tablets. All of our LTE/3G multimode chipsets support FDD and TDD modes.
